When the rich are too rich, something is wrong
Chart of wealth distribution in the United States (1920-2005)
Look at the great resemblance
between current situation in US, in terms of wealth distribution, and
1920s situation. According to a study by Thomas Piketty of the Paris
School of Economics and Emmanuel Saez of the University of California at
Berkeley, after a prolonged period of economic prosperity, both in the
late 20s as in the recent last years, 20% of national income has been
concentrated in 1% of the richest people. In contrast 90% of the U.S.
population with the lowest income only account for 50% of total national
income.
Perhaps, when the imbalance becomes excessive, more than 20% of total national income from only 1% rich population, it’s a clear signal that something doesn’t works. Too many excesses have been committed.

"The income of the top 1 percent nearly quadrupled from 1979 to 2007, but the typical family’s incomes barely budged.”
